We are so thankful to have him back here for lots of reasons:
1. We LOVE our nurses and doctors here.
2. We don't have to drive 2 hours in construction each way to the hospital OR
3. We don't have to pay $200 for one night in a hotel with parking to be near the hospital.
4. We don't have to sign in at 3 locations, one with an armed security guard, to see our baby.
5. His doctors and nurses here know him and didn't just read about him in a chart.
6. We LOVE our nurses and doctors here!
Did I mention we're happy he's back "home"? I don't think he's quite figured it out, yet. He's still really fussy and out of it. Within a couple of days all the effects of his anesthesia should hopefully be gone, and his eye is healing and he should be starting to see out of it soon. He has his favorite nurses back, and they'll make sure he's comfortable. They're already weaning him back on his oxygen and trying to feed him something slowly.
Thanks to my mom for staying with us/at our house this week so we could be downtown with Joel as much as possible. She watched her grand-doggies, and they really enjoyed it! She took care of all kinds of things at home, and it really helped us out!

Glory to God! Talk about getting more than you can ask or imagine....God is so good. 1 hour after surgery...off the vent...1 day after surgery...back to Naperville. This is fabulous. I am very happy to read such a great report, I am rejoicing with you. I think today is going to be a much better day with the feeds, oxygen, and recovery in general. This is terrific. Thanks for sharing and by the way, I think you guys might just like/love those doctors and nurses in N'ville...haha! Hugs to all...Kris
